Melody Adventures gives the foundation for Creative Piano Skills by encouraging melody-reading and an understanding of chords I, II, IV & V. An overall goal of this series is to encourage improvising accompaniments for melodies while progressing with technical, interpretive and sight-reading skills. These books can be used in conjunction with Keyboard Accompaniment BASICS. KEYBOARD ACCOMPANIMENT BASICS and KEYBOARD ACCOMPANIMENT COURSE give a solid foundations for improvisation and playing the piano by ear. By repeatedly choosing accompaniment chords, progressions, rhythmic styles and keyboard accompaniment patterns, both the decision-making and hearing skills are targeted and stimulated - to a point where creating appropriate accompaniment for melodies (1 & 2-hands) becomes instinctive.
